Every week we look at a certain period of our past. Although they are our forefathers, it seems that we are studying a far-off planet with the oddest inhabitants. Fortunately, these topics of our observation give us a wealth of insights on who people are. Their art, their writing, their technology, their manner of doing business, how they all feed into an image, we will try to paint for ourselves each week. Understanding who you were helps us to understand who we are.
Every week three or four questions are answered about essential subjects addressed in the materials offered in the matter itself, in the textbook, in the lectures, in the supplementary materials provided and in my Live Session commentary. You select the one you like and provide a 125-word comment or more. You must also reply to another post from one of your classmates. This second post should last at least 60 words and not merely agree or repeat what has been said.
Please use an example not already used in the debate.

How to improve your performance with panelsIt’s a nice opportunity to pause and ponder before going ahead with the first week of the Discussion Boards. If the score is the only thing you look at and move on, you do a disservice to yourself. Read the remarks and examine why you lost points, so that it doesn’t happen week after week.
Here are a couple of common errors to avoid:
Don’t write enough. This is a class of writing. You should study and listen to the materials, analyze and produce an understandable answer which covers the subject and answers questions. Use full phrases, as these are not quick answers. You may need to perform some additional research.
At the end of the initial post, quote your sources. Never cut materials from sources. We want to see your thoughts, not others’ thoughts. If you summarize the opinions of someone else or use a direct quote, please quote them. Do not use lengthy quotations for assignments of this length. A short sentence is the highest.
If “Great post” is the answer for your classmates! “I agree with you!” are you all writing, then you won’t earn any points. Read your posts and find something you can comment on. You may agree or disagree, but prove your statements. The length here is also essential. Say something fascinating about the topic. Again, cite them if you use external sources.
Ensure that your comments are orderly, related and meaningful.
Grammar check, orthographer, phrase structure, etc. As a college student, you should not have blunders in these areas in your writing. When you’re here, go back and see why you made the error and you won’t do it next time.
When you have completed your post, read it and change it before you post it. You send your best work to be classified. No editing service should be grading, but an affirmation of your hard work. You don’t have to post until your work has been edited for errors.
I often tell myself as a southerner…
You can’t write the way you speak, yourself. Use the right language and diction with your formal voice. I have been born a redneck to be honest, but I work hard to keep it wrapped up in my writing. Well writing is one of the greatest abilities you can learn, but regular work is required.
Try checking and answering your classmates all week long. Please also read my answers to your classmates. You will find that the answers you provide and take add to your understanding.
