Album Review #1 Ice-T and N.W.A. In 1987 and 1988 two seminal albums were released. These albums were a national success, bringing an audience to Gangsta Rap. Ice-T and Rhyme Pays In 1987, Ice-T (Tracy Marrow) released the album Rhyme Pays. The album was produced by Afrika Islam, a member of the Universal Zulu Nation. This was Ice-T’s debut album and a shift is beginning to move from East Coast to West Coast rap in the late 1980s. N.W.A. and Straight Outta Compton Considered by many to be the most important album in defining Gangsta Rap as a style. Straight Outta Compton was released in 1988 by Ruthless Records. Your job is to pick one of the albums.
