Paper details:
The purpose of this assignment is to prepare a paper for the Combatant Commander to use in testimony before congressional committees and in meetings in Washington regarding Kaliningrad using the “Strategic_Estimate_Baltic Sea Region” PowerPoint. The “Strategic_Estimate_Baltic Sea Region” PowerPoint will be the primary source document to complete this Strategic Point Paper.
Pay careful attention format and structure listed in both instruction documents attached. Read and review the following before
attempting the Strategic Point Paper: JP 5-0 (pages II-9, paragraph 9d, “Strategic Estimate” and Appendix B, “Strategic Estimate”); and the Guide to Strategic Estimate Development documents to provide insight on strategic estimates. For context only, read C206RB EUCOM_Posture_Stmt_Feb2020; C205_RB_NSS_Extract; C205_RC_2018_NDS_Summary. I have also attached two example papers. The purpose of the example papers is to provide an example of how your paper should cover the content. DO NOT cite the example papers or copy and paste any information from them. Use example papers as examples of how to structure and cover the information needed from the course material. Your paper must cover the same amount of detail as the example papers.
Section specific instructions: Potential Opportunities section instructions: Read the scenario from the slides and provide diplomatic, informational, military, and economic (DIME) analysis. The DIME analysis must only focus on the options listed in the course materials. For example, the economic analysis should focus on diplomatic efforts; military analysis should focus on the analysis of permanently stationed troops in Poland; information analysis should focus on course materials advocating for sending US rotational forces to the region.
The Assessment of Risks & Mitigation section should reflect slides #47-49 from the course materials. Conclusion and Recommendation instructions: Make a recommendation from the course materials only. For the validity assessment section, ensure you evaluate the recommended option against the strategic validity using: feasibility, acceptability, suitability, and completeness. Then, compare it against the other options. The course materials can be accessed from the following dropbox link:
