Five Support Network Scenarios
Hello,
Once I completed reading through all five support network scenarios, I chose to write about Joseph and his last-minute deployment for this week’s discussion. Joseph scenario hit home for me because I have also been in his shoes and it was a stressful time. I remember all the things that were going through my mind such as am I going to be able to pass this class now, if I fail I’m responsible to pay the money back and lastly will my teacher be willing to help me with an extension if need be.
During a stressful time like this it’s always great to be at an institute who is supportive of military members. These are two to three things I feel Joseph can do in order to overcome his situation. I would immediately speak to my leader ship to make them aware of me being in school and deploying last minute next, I would call my advisor as well as follow up with an email to them and my teacher. Lastly, I would find out if where he is going has Wi-Fi capabilities and what my day to day duties will be so I can start planning around it.
Managing school, work and your personal life is enough to deal with for one person on a daily basis. Having a support network in place and a plan for handling stressful situations is vital being that it will determine your success academically and individually. We also need to remember that where not alone on this journey. Furthermore, our support network can help lighten the load which is why it’s important to reach out for help when you need it. By doing this it will lessen your chances from losing track of your goals and becoming unmotivated which in return will cause a setback.
